What is WAP?

Wireless Application Protocol is the protocol that allows users instant access to information through radiowaves, using devices like: mobile phones, pagers, smartphones and communicators.

WAP is supported by many radio networks like: CDPD, CDMA, GSM, PDC, PHS, TDMA, FLEX, ReFLEX, iDEN, TETRA, DECT, DataTAC, and Mobitex.

To visualize information accessible through Internet, the devices feature special applications, called minibrowsers, that have several restrictions for memory size and file size, mainly due to reduced bandwidth of radio communication.
